On-site work is scheduled to commence on the 14th of November to upgrade and replace parts of the main water supply pipeline in Nicholson.
The main supply connection points at Murrumbung Dr and Stephenson Rd are being upgraded with new valves, in addition to relocating the Binghams Rd Reserve main pipeline.
East Gippsland Water has commissioned local contractor Rivex for the project – designed to help meet the long term water supply needs of the growing communities of Nicholson, Johnsonville, Metung, Swan Reach and Lakes Entrance. The project is due to be completed before Christmas.
Every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience to local residents. Those likely to be directly affected by the works have already been notified.
East Gippsland Water’s Executive Manager Capital & Service Delivery, Mark McNeil, said, “These works are part of our ongoing drive to ensure all our communities have secure supplies of high quality drinking water well into the future, taking into account forecasts for population growth and the potential impact of climate change on our region. Every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to residents and customers while the project is underway and we appreciate their cooperation.”
Anyone with enquires about the project should contact East Gippsland Water’s Bairnsdale office on 1800 671 841 during business hours.
These works are a part of the $6.3 million round of engineering projects designed to safeguard and enhance water services to growing populations within the East Gippsland Water Region.
