National Water Week Online Learning Festival

This year East Gippsland Water is partnering with water corporations across Victoria to bring you the National Water Week Online Learning Festival! Our online learning festival program will bring together a fantastic collection of online events, printable resources and on demand videos to make National Water Week 2021 a week of fun and learning.

National Water Week, 18– 22 October 2020, is a week that aims to inspire individuals, communities and organisations to think about water!  Access to clean water is hugely important to our daily lives, and it’s down to all of us to protect our water environments and resources, and use water wisely.  This year’s theme is ‘Explore your Backyard’.

Backyard activities

Create a recyclable rain gauge, become a leak detective or have a garden scavenger hunt – spending time in your backyard is a great educational excursion! Exploring the ecosystem that is your backyard, can give kids and adults a easy interaction with nature. Click here to find out more.

Explore the benefits of insects in helping to pollinate plants, and learn how to make a bug hotel to encourage more insects into your garden. Barwon Water shows you how.

 

Storytime: Shane the Siltslayer!

Shane the Siltslayer is a short story written to introduce the many specialised machines East Gippsland Water uses to keep our water safe to drink. Listen to the tale Shane the Siltslayer as he travels to the bush to help his friends clean the drinking water in a rural town after a bushfire threatens their water supply.

The National Water Week Poster Competition over for 2021! Primary School students across the East Gippsland region created incredible posters reflecting and exploring water-related issues that are important to them and how they use water in their daily lives.
