A new water main for the North Arm

East Gippsland Water is replacing the water main between Kalimna and Lakes Entrance to improve supply reliability and support future growth.

The construction works are expected to commence in September 2025 and be fully concluded by mid-December 2025.

The new water main will be constructed along the path shown in Figure 1 on this web page – from Seaview Parade in Kalimna, down the escarpment and under North Arm, connecting back into the water main network in Lakes Entrance, adjacent to the North Arm bridge in Apex Park.

The construction method utilises trenchless installation techniques, minimising impact to the environment and local community.

We apologise to nearby residents for minor access disruptions during the project.
There will be no planned interruptions to local water supply.

If you have any questions about the project, please call us on 1300 720 700.

Project background

The water main that crosses the North Arm at Marine Parade is one of two water mains that provide potable (drinking) water to Lakes Entrance. This pipeline is critical to maintaining appropriate levels of service during peak periods. Replacing the water main will also help East Gippsland Water accommodate the increased water demand of a growing population.

The works

Our contractors will use horizontal directional drilling to install the water main from Point Rd down under North Arm. The proposed works area for the Seaview Parade and Marine Parade locations are shown below in Figures 2 & 3.

The practical completion date of the project has been set for 10 December 2025. Our plans minimise disruption to properties near the works, and all work will be conducted in a safe manner, in accordance with all relevant health and safety Acts and Regulations.

Any areas disturbed during construction will be reinstated to an equivalent or improved standard, and there will be no impact to utility services during this time.
