When it came to repairing a water main in Lakes Entrance last week, East Gippsland Water took the unusual step of calling in a team of divers!
The five divers, supported on land by East Gippsland Water field staff, worked to repair a submerged section of main located beneath the road bridge at North Arm.
Their challenge was to fuse together a seeping joint between two sections of heavy duty polypropylene pipeline – which they completed successfully while maintaining an uninterrupted supply of water to customers throughout the operation.
East Gippsland Water’s Executive Manager Capital and Service Delivery, Mark McNeil, said, “We greatly appreciate the hard work and professionalism of everyone involved in the repair work and the support provided by AlbCon and Kina Diving at short notice.”
