East Gippsland Water is very excited to announce the winners of this year’s regional National Water Week poster competition, with three out of the five category winners also claiming state-wide nods.

The Early Learning/Kindergarten category was introduced for the first time this year, and Laila from Wild Cherry Primary School in Bairnsdale was the winning entry state-wide and regionally with her cute poster based on the theme ‘United by Water’.

Maizie from Swan Reach Primary School also created an amazing poster, which won the Prep/Foundation category in the region and the state, another fantastic achievement.

The other regional category winners are:

Grade 1-2, Cambell from Buchan Primary School

Grade 3-4, Stella from St Mary’s Primary School, Bairnsdale

Grade 5-6, Grace from Bairnsdale Primary School

Grace also impressed the state judges and received second place in the State Grade 5-6 category. Congratulations and well done to Grace.

East Gippsland Water Executive Manager Customers, Community and Communications, David Radford said: “We really appreciate the involvement of 14 schools from across East Gippsland in this year’s competition. We received 287 fantastic entries across the five categories incorporating this year’s theme ‘United by Water’.

“Water plays a very important role in all of our lives, and in bringing individuals and communities together, and we are inspired by the children who are learning about the importance of water at an early age and its environmental significance.

“We are proud to have been involved in the National Water Week Poster Competition since 2010, involving 11 other water corporations from across Victoria and supported by the Victorian Government and the Australian Water Association.

“We are also very proud of all of our winners and participants, who surprise us each year with their imagination and talent.”
