East Gippsland Water

3 November 2023

A group of students from TAFE Gippsland got a bird’s eye view of the East Gippsland Water Woodglen Water Storage and Treatment facility recently to gain first-hand knowledge about the importance of water security and water quality for thousands of customers.

The ten students are undertaking a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management and part of this specialist course involves sampling and testing of water for a variety of water quality assessments.

East Gippsland Water Acting Executive Manager Service Delivery, Judd Boeker, said: “Undertaking tours at the Woodglen Water Storage and Treatment facility plays an important part in educating students and community members about the water cycle.

“We were delighted to host the TAFE Gippsland students and staff at Woodglen explained the importance of water storage and the stages of filtration related to the water treatment process.”

TAFE Gippsland Teacher, Darren Randall, said: “As part of the course, it is important for students to understand and observe how and why water is processed and tested.

“We are very grateful to East Gippsland Water for hosting the students. They came away with a much better appreciation and understanding of what’s involved in providing and maintaining drinking water supplies.”
