Upgrading water treatment for Dinner Plain customers

East Gippsland Water

27 June 2022

East Gippsland Water is upgrading the water treatment process at Dinner Plain to ensure a safe, reliable supply of high-quality drinking water can be maintained to customers at all times.

The water supplied to Dinner Plain is groundwater, which is treated using exposure to ultraviolet light to protect the community from bacteria in the water, which has been detected from time to time. While ultraviolet treatment is effective, in line with best practice across the Australian water industry, chlorine dosing will now also be included as part of the treatment process.

This is an extra safeguard to ensure a safe and consistent quality of water is available to the community.
