A small group of members from the Paynesville Men’s Shed attended East Gippsland Water’s Woodglen Water Storage and Treatment facility recently to gain first-hand knowledge about the importance of water security and water quality for thousands of customers.
The group of eight were given a talk and tour of the facilities by District Manager Water Treatment Robert Saunders and Senior Treatment Operator Luke Missen.
East Gippsland Water Acting Executive Manager Service Delivery, Judd Boeker, said: “It is great to see local community groups interested in how we provide safe drinking water to our customers.
“The Woodglen Water Storage and Treatment facility plays a vital part in educating community members about the water cycle and the impact on water supply to our customers due to variable rainfall patterns.
“Rob and Luke are extremely knowledgeable and were delighted to host the Paynesville Men’s Shed members where they explained the importance of water storage, the stages of filtration related to the water treatment process and how water is delivered to our customers through a mix of gravity mains and pump stations.
“The visitors went away with a greater appreciation of how drinking water is supplied to the local area.”
