Paynesville – Paynesville Road water main replacement update

East Gippsland Water

9 May 2022

Motorists using the Paynesville Road are being reminded to allow extra time for their journey as work progresses on East Gippsland Water’s replacement of 550m of ageing water main at the road’s entry into Paynesville.

The section of water main being replaced runs along the south side of Paynesville Road, between The Grange and Main Road.

Traffic management measures have been implemented, including reduced speed signs, for the safety of East Gippsland Water staff and contractors. Every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to residents and travellers while the upgrade work is underway.

The aim of the project – which will take approximately four months to complete – is to boost the reliability and efficiency of the local water supply network well into the future.

To enable replacement of the water main, it will be necessary to remove five trees along a section of the nature strip where the work is being conducted. This has been approved by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and nearby residents have been informed. East Gippsland Water will purchase Native Vegetation Offsets to compensate for the tree removal.

Anyone with enquiries about the project can contact East Gippsland Water’s Bairnsdale office on 1800 671 841.
